Really excellent!August 21, 2014Verified PurchaseThis modestly priced and completely unassuming integrated amplifier is absolutely one of the best bang-for-buck propositions in audio. I have the good fortune of working in the music industry and have access to virtually any gear of my choosing, including megabuck products of every stripe, and this little Qinpu amp has become my new favorite for critical listening. It has no tone controls, no balance, no remote and only 1 pair of RCA inputs (and 2 more 3.5mm / 1/8"" jacks) but if you care more about musicality and an overall presentation that feels completely 'right' on every level you need look no further. I do recommend switching out the stock Chinese tubes--which actually are a lot better than expected--for any of the following 5670 / 2C51 / 396A equivalents, all of which I've tested with this amp and are uniformly superb and each has different characteristics: Bendix, GE 5 Star (especially the ones with red lettering), Raytheon with windmill getters, Western Electric and Tung Sol. I've also been told that LM Ericssons, particularly those with gold pins, are heavenly but haven't yet been able to find a pair.In short, unless your speakers are woefully inefficient (maybe 88dB or lower) and/or you're attempting to fill a gymnasium with sound I suspect this little guy will be all most people will need. BANISTER5.0 out of 5 starsGreat sound, decent price.October 19, 2013Verified PurchaseI got this to power my KEF iq10 bookshelf speakers, which are moderately efficient.The power was plenty for the 10' x12' den where they're in use.The sound is really great after it was allowed to ""burn in"" for several hours.I used two TUNG-SOL 2C51 tubes I bought as NOS (new old stock) to upgrade the sound, which seemed to improve vocals.The sound is rich, warm and detailed - from my research, it seems that the tube/transistor hybrid can yield a good combination of quick transients with warm tones.It is also great for a pre-amp, as long as you're very careful with the volume control, since the line out is for headphones.4 people found this helpfulMark this review as helpful BUTTONHelpfulComment Report abuseJack5.0 out of 5 starsExcellent entry level tube ampFebruary 15, 2014Verified PurchaseThis amp produces fairly loud sound despite the low output rating and with that comes tangible sound with good dimensionality and smoothness.A few cons to keep in mind are the fact that this is a tube amp, so the high end is rolled off quite a bit. violins, piano's, vocals and sound effects are all missing high end presence. If your room has a lot of bare wood with little sound dampening, or If you have a pair of speakers that you consider to sound ""bright"", this might be a perfect amp for you.
