Last month in Salt Lake City, Ryan Sheckler stood on his familiar perch at the top of the podium, followed by four Brazilians out to get him. It was more of the same today here in Orlando, as Rodolfo Ramos, Rodil Araujo Jr., and Fabrizio Santos trailed close behind Sheckler in the PlayStation? Pro Prelims, each gunning for a big Dew Tour win in tomorrow's Final and a chance to disrupt his Dew Tour domination and his dreams of winning AST Dew Tour Athlete of the Year honors.

"The Brazilians are on a mission right now," says Sheckler. "This stop is crazy because everybody from every discipline is really going for it. This is going to be the gnarliest contest because everyone realizes what they have to do to get those last few points to get to the top or to get that $25,000 check. Nobody's holding back! We'll see what happens."

Sheckler's first run in Prelims secured his favorite position - number one - heading into Finals, with a nearly flawless 60-second run and a score of 92.25. Obviously Sheckler is a competitive guy, but it was also clear he was out to have fun and stoked to be out skating with so many of his close friends.

"We're all such good friends and we all hang out so much that when we're at these contests it's like we're out street skating, or we're at Paul's private skatepark, or my skatepark," says Sheckler. "Nothing changes. We're all friends and we're all here to skate and have fun. That's what makes it feel like a family."

With 375 points in the overall Dew Tour standings, Sheckler has already secured his third Dew Cup championship in a row. He says that helps him rest a little easier, but that he's still after more: He wants to beat out Nate Adams, Shaun White, and Jamie Bestwick for the $25,000 Athlete of the Year prize. To do it, he can't settle for anything less than first place tomorrow.

"It's kind of a big weight off my shoulders so I can come out here, skate, and have fun and if something were to happen I'd still get the Dew Cup, but it doesn't change my overall mentality: I'm going out to skate, and I'm going out to win."

The other big star of Skate Park Prelims was Chaz Ortiz, the 13-year-old amateur skater who earned a wild card entry after winning the Free Flow Tour Finals yesterday. He finished in fifth place against the pros, just beating out top skaters like Greg Lutzka and Austen Seaholm Austen Seaholm, and will compete in tomorrow's Skate Park Finals.

Danny Fuenzalida, Thomas Parent, Jason Barr, and Mike Peterson also made the cut. Sheckler says he's honored to be in such company.

"It's cool that the other skaters accept me for my skateboarding and not for everything else that is going on," says Sheckler. His MTV show Life of Ryan has helped up the screaming girls quotient at the Dew Tour Skate Park events and has helped make him the main attraction. "When the show first came out there were a lot of haters, but I think now everybody is starting to see it as something that is really positive for skateboarding."
