TP-22 sounds clean, thin and bass is lacking. Elite A-20 is punchy, fuller but somewhat bloated. I had never owned a tube amplifier so I decided to give Qinpu A-6000 MKII a try. Other equipment used in my desktop setup is B&W CM1 S2 speakers and Antelope Zodiac Gold DAC. PC is running Windows 8.1 and music application is Foobar 2000. PC is connected to the DAC via USB.This little amplifier truly is an eye opener! It sounds not bad right out of the box with the stock 6N3 tubes. But there is no ""attack"" and overall the sound is too laid back for my taste. I decided to replace the stock tubes based on the recommendation from other reviews.GE JAN 5670WThis is an inexpensive upgrade. We can easily find a NOS pair for $10 on the auction bay. After the upgrade the improvement is quite noticeable. Wow! I couldn't believe the difference this tube makes! Bass is much stronger and sound stage is more forwarding. Overall sound is sweet, smooth and with sufficient details without any harshness. On the flip side, I can hear very faint hum if my ears are inches away from the speakers. It doesn't really bother me.BENDIX JAN CEA 2C51I later found a pair of used Bendix 2C51 on the auction bay for $75. This tube produces the most details while remaining sweet and smooth. But GE JAN 5670W seems to offer a tad bit more attack (not by much). I also need to turn the volume up to 10 o'clock while using the Bendix tubes. With 5670W I barely need to get past 9 o'clock.Heat DissipationSome reviews suggested the enclosure is sealed and heat could be a concern. The aluminum chassis is warm to touch but never gets hot in my listening environment. This product uses LM1875 as the power amplifier so it's not producing much heat it seems. I haven't owned this amplifier for a long time so time will tell.In conclusion, I am truly amazed by this little amplifier and the sweet, smooth, detailed sound it is capable of producing. The price is also very affordable and this is a big plus.
